Kindergarten Play Dates

Are you the parent of a Crossfield rising kindergartner? The PTO has scheduled 3 kindergarten play dates this summer so that the kids can meet one another and become more comfortable with their new surroundings.  The first one is Sunday July 31st at 5:30 PM!
We will be at the lower grades playground (the playground on the right of the school as you face the building from the parking lot) so the kids can become familiar with being at the school and having fun!  These get-togethers provide opportunities for the kids to get to know each other, parents to meet one another, and the children to get excited about going to school at Crossfield.
 Sunday July 31st at 5:30 PM
Thursday August 11th at 6:00 PM
     A school administrator will read a story and give out popsicles at this play date

Thursday September 1st
12:30 PM Kindergarten Play Date
1:30-2:15 PM Open House (all grades) Last names A-L
2:15-3:00 PM Open House (all grades) Last names M-Z

Please have the children bring a water bottle if needed as we will not be able to enter the school facility to use the drinking fountain (or the bathroom!). These get-togethers are very informal.  There is no need to sign up, just show up.  You can come to all dates or just one.  You can come early or late, whatever works with your schedule.  All are welcome, siblings included. Also, please pass along the word to any rising kindergartner you may know.

If you have any questions, please contact Kim & Katie @ ksummer_playdate@crossfieldpto.org.  We hope to see you at the Crossfield playground soon!

Crossfield PTO Photo Policy

In keeping with best practices, Crossfield PTO is implementing a new protocol regarding PTO pictures. From here forward, when taking pictures for PTO purposes, we ask pictures to be shot from behind.  By taking pictures of the backs of kids’ heads only, it ensures that we are compliant with FCPS regulations.

New PTO Event Websites/Online Payment via Classy.org

To better serve our organization, the PTO has subscribed to Classy.org. The site has facilitated our fundraising efforts for the Crossfield Campaign, will facilitate donation receipts year-round, and will also serve as a central location for PTO event information (much like an evite).

We plan to create a Classy site for each PTO event that lists the details of the event, allows you to RSVP for free or buy any necessary tickets, and make donations in lieu of attendance. We hope this centralized approach will make an easy “one stop shop” for all you to create accounts and make ticket purchases for events like Skate Night and Bingo online and in advance. Our first Classy event page is for the Chipotle Spirit Night. You can RSVP (for free and pay for your meal at the restaurant) here: https://www.classy.org/chipotlenight

As you know, our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) provides amazing support, enrichment, and a sense of community here at Crossfield. I am pleased to announce the launch of the PTO Fall Fundraiser, the Crossfield Campaign (www.crossfieldcampaign.org). The purpose is to raise dollars for the PTO, with a particular focus on funding for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) tools; namely new laptops. The PTO Board carefully considered survey feedback from our familiesLearn more and decided to not require product sales or sponsorships and are now adopting a fundraiser based on flat donations from the community. A quick visit to the website allows you to:

  • Learn more about the Campaign;
  • Quickly and easily make a donation directly to the PTO;
  • Facilitate matched donations from your employer;
  • Dedicate your donation to anyone, such as teacher/staff, students, friends, or family; and
  • Easily create a personal campaign page to support Crossfield by clicking on the green “Become a Fundraiser” button to share with friends and family.
